An open space forum where delicious topics are shared and savoured!
When?
Tuesday July 8th, 6:30pm, Ballroom
Who?
Every delegate who registered for 3 day or 4 day passes, or who registered for Mon/Tues pass
Why?
We are interested in this conference servicing the need to interface and share ideas, methods and theories opposed to a forum where findings are disseminated through fleeting sessions and brief encounters. We understand that the people in the room carry a wealth of knowledge and expertise and it is simply a matter of corralling this as a springboard to new inquiries in the most dynamic possible way!
How?
Boards are placed in the dining room with the three session listed; hors d'oeuvres, main course and dessert (one board for each course).A pool of letters that are provided which correlate to letters in various tables in the room. These letters define the location of the talk. On each table are papers and felt pens.
- People are invited to get a piece of paper
- Write a particular interest for discussion (i.e. imaginative ways to teach math.)
- Go the facilitator with microphone and read out the posting with a few lines describing the topic
- Find the board with the course that best suits that person
- Tape the posting on that board with a letter assigning the table.
- Take paper and pen as it will be necessary to take notes for the debriefing late
This process takes place three times; during the hors d'oeuvres then the main course and finally the dessert so a participant has a chance to engage in three separate conversations throughout the event
And so…
We imagine that the topics that come up at the tables will be reflective of the work that has been happening in the previous workshops and this will continue to cultivate a continuity and depth within the explorations of this conference. There will be a summary of the Feast presented at the end of Wednesday July 9th.
