Previous conferences and symposia
Our conference archives for 2003 through 2007, including Research Symposia, can be found at http://www.ierg.net/confs/The Imaginative Education Research Group, which birthed the Centre for Imaginative Education, is a group of researchers, teachers, graduate students, parents, and others who want to help bring about a change in the way schooling is conceived, organized and practiced worldwide by examining educational issues, curricula, teaching, learning (etc.) with imagination as the central organizing concept.
Summer Institute on Imaginative Education
This first biennial institute will take place in July 2008 and has an over-arching theme of "Achieving Educational Goals with Imagination". The goal in organizing this event, was to build on our previous conferences (link above) in such a way that we could respond to the ever growing number of requests for more focused sessions on Imaginative Education, as well as retaining the structure of previous conferences.

Annual Research Symposia on Imaginative Education
The Imaginative Education Research Group (IERG), part of the Centre for Imaginative Educatin at Simon Fraser University, is pleased to continue our Annual Research Symposia on Imaginative Education.
Beginning in 2006, the IERG began this series of symposia as a part of our annual International Conference on Imagination and Education. This event is designed as an avenue for researchers to discuss their work and enter into dialogue with other researchers in the area of imaginative education at our annual conferences while also having their papers considered for fully refereed Research Symposium Proceedings.

6th International Conference on Imagination and Education
The 6th International Conference on Imagination and Education: "Imaginative practice, imaginative inquiry", is taking place from 29-31 January, 2008 at the Rydges Hotel by the Lake, Canberra, Australia.
The five previous International Conferences on Imagination and Education (link above) have gained such momentum, that we are pleased to be working with the Learning Communities Research Area, University of Canberra, to bring this event to Australia.
Registration is open and we invite teachers, students, researchers, policy makers and the interested public to join us in our aim to stimulate discussion of imaginative education and its applications in all sites of learning, and to ensure that educational experiences are imaginatively engaging for both teachers and learners.
